Marilyn Young - Chief Cyber Security Training Officer

Marilyn is a seasoned cybersecurity professional with over 15 years of experience, having served in roles ranging from External Auditor for the Department of Justice to Information Security Awareness Coordinator and Lead Facilitator at the House of Representatives. She excels in identifying and addressing critical information security awareness needs, integrating them into organizational frameworks, and fostering cross-functional relationships for mutual benefit.

Marilyn's expertise includes cultivating annual cybersecurity awareness and role-based training, leading international phishing training efforts, and coordinating Cybersecurity Awareness Month activities. She is adept at developing and implementing communication and learning materials to mitigate cyber threats and reduce business impact. Her responsibilities have included managing an immersive phishing training program for approximately 73,000 learners globally, designing cybersecurity training courses, and planning instructional strategies to promote best practices.

She has designed, coordinated, and facilitated yearly Cybersecurity Awareness Month activities, including innovative events like a Cybersecurity Escape Room. As a Learning Management System Administrator, Marilyn has provided excellent customer service, troubleshooting issues and managing vendor migrations. She has also served as a liaison between cybersecurity teams and vendor developers.

Marilyn has assisted with incident response tabletop exercises, identifying training gaps and learning opportunities. She has reorganized and re-instituted cybersecurity curricula, training materials, and processes, providing tailored training for employees, contractors, and U.S. Congressional House Member Offices.
